Terminal for coding agents · macOS
A light, native
terminal for agents.
agterm is a Mac terminal written in Swift. Each tab shows what its agent is working on, whether it needs you, and how much it has changed. Claude Code and Codex started in it get agmux project memory and consult, with no config files to edit.

Measured on an M5 Max with macOS 27.2, optimized build, physical memory as Activity Monitor reports it. The first prompt took 220–450 ms after launch; most of that is the shell's own startup files.
Works with agmux
Project memory
Agents in agterm get the same
agmux-memoryserver agmux gives its own, for every folder agmux knows. Claude Code here and Codex in agmux read and add to one set of notes about the repo.consult
An agent can ask Claude, Codex or Grok on your Mac for a second opinion, or have them review its diff before calling the work done.
No setup
agterm adds both servers when you type
claudeorcodexin its tabs, skips any you already configured, and edits no config files.AGTERM_MCP=0turns it off for one run. Needs agmux installed.
What a tab tells you
The task
Claude Code names what it's doing in the terminal title; agterm puts that name on the tab.
Working or waiting
WORKING while it runs, DONE when it finished while you were elsewhere, NEEDS YOU when it asks for permission, with a notification and a sound if you want them.
What it changed
Lines added and removed since the agent started, next to the folder and branch. Files it created count too.
Native
No web view
AppKit and the SwiftTerm emulator, drawn with Core Graphics. Your login shell runs as it does in Terminal.app.
Comes back as you left it
Quit with tabs open and they reopen with their history. A tab that was running Claude Code resumes the same conversation.
Mac manners
Drag in files or images, reorder tabs by dragging, five themes, any monospaced font, and a see-through background that blurs what's behind it.
